he Board of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) is currently in Tel Aviv, meeting with key figures of the local MICE industry and visiting state-of-the-art venues during a 3-day visit organized by the Tel Aviv Convention Bureau and the Israel Ministry of Tourism.

During the visit, which started on Tuesday August 13 and will end on Thursday August 15, the ICCA Board will meet with leaders of the MICE industry in Tel Aviv including Mr. Amir Halevy, CEO of Israel Ministry of Tourism; Mr. Eytan Schwartz, CEO of Tel Aviv Global & Tourism; Mr. Tamir Dayan, CEO of Expo Tel Aviv, and other ICCA members from Israel. The ICCA Board will also visit key locations and venues around Tel Aviv including Expo Tel Aviv which hosts hundreds of conferences, evens art exhibition annually. James Rees, ICCA President said: "Tel Aviv has it all; amazing history, a thriving innovation scene and a cosmopolitan feel. The story of this destination will surely capture the heart of each and every visitor".

Earlier this year, Expo Tel Aviv hosted this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which was the single largest international event in the history of the city. The Contest took place in Expo's Pavilion 2, which was recently inaugurated following a 100 million dollar investment. During the Eurovision week, tens of thousands of spectators attended the rehearsals and live shows which took place in Pavilion 2, and thousands of journalists and delegation members were hosted in the Press Center and Green room located in Pavilion 11 and 1 respectively.

In addition, the Tel Aviv Municipality organized a festive Orange Carpet opening Ceremony in the city's central plaza at HaTarbut Square and over 1 million international and local visitors experienced the Eurovision festivities at the week-long Eurovision Village, located at Charles Clore Park, a beachfront park which is also the annual location of the Tel Aviv Pride Parade main event. This was the first time ever that Tel Aviv hosted the biggest song competition in the world, and the city is ready to host additional international events, conferences and exhibitions.

Tel Aviv – An emerging MICE destination

Tel Aviv, one of the world’s leading innovative cities, set out to become a world-leading meeting destination. Following large-scale investments in meetings infrastructure, Tel Aviv launched an initiative to attract international congresses, events and tech-related meetings to the city. The initiative is led by the city’s new Convention Bureau, under the auspices of Tel Aviv Global & Tourism, and includes incentives and services that aim to introduce the city as a meaningful player on the world’s MICE industry map.
