Seoul Convention Bureau launches Virtual Seoul Platform for MICE events
Sep 17, 2020
In response to the ‘new normal’ brought forth by the unprecedented pandemic, Seoul Convention Bureau (SCB) has launched an innovative MICE destination marketing campaign.
The bureau has lifted the veil on the Virtual Seoul Platform, which is to be utilised for MICE events in the digital world and has been designed to accommodate various types of MICE events.
The web-based format, which portrays Seoul in simpler 3D graphics, is easily accessible and works on mobile devices via Internet web browsers, including Chrome, Edge and Safari. There are five venues situated on the platform representing the various charms of Seoul – a beautiful traditional palace, a modern cultural complex, an all-time favorite classic landmark tower, artificial islands or a green space surrounded by the city. They each transform into a conference hall, workshop rooms, a promotional booth, a VR theater and a lounge area.
The attractiveness of Seoul’s MICE industry has been carefully extracted into well-made Virtual Reality (VR) videos. The Virtual Seoul Platform comprises 360˚ VR videos on Seoul’s landmarks, its unique venues and teambuilding opportunities, which are filmed in a first-person point of view as if the viewer is taking a virtual tour.
Riding a rickshaw to hanok village, taking a glimpse of a temple stay programme and embarking on a site inspection of a cruise venue are some of the programmes on the list. The tour is extended to Seoul’s partner cities, Gangwon and Gwangju, and includes an array of special tour videos featuring an Honorary Seoul Tourism Ambassador, Eunwoo Cha.
UIA Associations Round Table Asia-Pacific 2020 is to be hosted as the first virtual roundtable on the Virtual Seoul Platform on September 17 and 18.
