TTG Travel Experience, SIA Hospitality Design and Sun Beach&Outdoor Style opened at Rimini Expo Centre

The big show dedicated to the tourism supply chain, organized by Italian Exhibition Group and with the simultaneous staging of TTG Travel Experience, SIA Hospitaliy Design and SUN Beach & Outdoor Style, opened at Rimini Expo Centre, in the presence of the Minister for Tourism, Gian Marco Centinaio.

The Minister, welcomed by a large crowd of operators, arrived bright and early at the Show, much before the official inauguration planned for 2.30 pm, saying “I am excited to be here in a place that I always came to as an operator. Now I am here for the first time as a Minister to speak with colleagues and to talk about our sector, about tourism.” “TTG is the tourism Show”, Centinaio, who will also be at TTG, SIA and SUN today, went on to highlight.  The Minister also wanted “to thank all those who have worked hard to stage this event that is increasingly becoming a reference point for our sector’s operators, also on an international scale. I and my ministry are completely at the disposal of TTG.”

The afternoon featured the opening talk show with Minister  Gian Marco Centinaio, together with the President of Emilia-Romagna, Stefano Bonaccini, the Mayor of Rimini and President of Destinazione Romagna, Andrea Gnassi and the President of Italian Exhibition Group, Lorenzo Cagnoni.

The three Shows took up the entire Expo Centre hosting proposals from 2,550 exhibitors representing 150 destinations. 1,500 buyers from 90 different countries are expected to attend. Mexico is the Country Partner 2018.

The vast Think Future programme, which began in the morning, is brimming with events (over 200 events and 300 speakers in eight arenas located inside the halls). The agenda for the second day, today, Thursday 11th October, is also full. Below are just a few of the not-to-be-missed events. “Tourist distribution: innovation takes off” is the title of today’s meeting (10 am in the Industry Vision Arena) where Milan Polytechnic’s Osservatorio Innovazione Digitale nel Turismo (Digital Innovation in Tourism Research Centre) will be previewing the results of the study. The data show how the digital component is growing in the market, also thanks to the ‘traditional’ players along the supply chain. Direct hotel bookings through the hospitality facilities’ own digital channels (websites, apps, etc.) have increased by +13% and amount to 11% of the total number of bookings received.

What will the new digital strategies guiding the Travel world’s future be? Today, at 10.30 am, in the Innovation Arena (South Hall), a meeting on digital leaders’ new strategies, with an intervention from Google Italia that will help to understand coming innovations. With and Expedia, focus on how to deepen the relationship between search and conversion and how trends evolve.


Tourism in its green version will be at the centre of the initiative scheduled for 12 noon in Sala Noce (Hall A6) organized by Confturismo-Confcommercio to present the Sentinelle del mare (Sea sentinels) project in collaboration with Bologna University’s Department of Biological, Geological and Environmental Sciences (BiGeA). The  SENTINELLE DAL MARE AWARDS will be given to the companies that excelled in the project’s activities during summer 2018.


Psychology of Tourism recently equipped itself with a test that lets the tourist know whether his future holiday, the one he is about to choose, will really be his “Perfect Holiday”. During the meeting entitled Psychology of wellbeing. Tiger, butterfly or shark? How to recognize the client and offer him the holiday that will truly make him happy (3 pm, Management & Wellness Arena), the latest ideas from the DiBeneinMeglio association, which has announced the opening of the website, will be illustrated. On registering, the client can take a test which will identify his/her personality type from 243 different types. Each type is matched to a species of animal. So, “What tourist animal are you in the holiday jungle?”


In the Talent Arena (Hall A2) next to BeTheNext: today at 4.30 pm, focus on the start-up universe and the chance of finding the business idea that could strongly innovate the tourist industry from among all those presented. Intervening will be Manageritalia, Milan Polytechnic and the  Associazione Startup Turismo. The round table at noon will have an international profile by discussing Working in tourism tomorrow. The requirements identified by the European Commission and specialization proposals for neo-professionals.”


Making his debut today at SIA Hospitality Design (12 noon, Rooms Arena, Hall D3) will be one of the most influential names in global hospitality. Serge Trigano, member of the dynasty of hoteliers for many years and head of Club Méditerranée, will be presenting the pop strategy at the basis of the MamaShelter brand, designed together with the famous French architect, Philippe Starck. 


Today will see the SIB/FIBA/OASI conference entitled “Safeguarding beach resort business – from words to deeds!” (10.30 am, Sala Sisto Neri – South Hall). At 3.30 pm in Sala Sisto Neri, the CNA Balneatori National Assembly  on the topic of “The Italian beach resort question: a quick solution is needed.”

The prize-giving ceremony for the Best Beach competition will take place at 4.30 pm at the Beach&Camping Arena, authentic Oscars for the best Italian beach resorts with 7,800 entries, over 100,000 votes received and three categories in the running: Best Beach Bar, Best Beach Design and Best Italian Beach.
