Successful start to MICE Arabia & Luxury Travel Congress 2017

The first day of MICE Arabia & Luxury Travel Congress, organised by QnA International, was deemed a great success, with well-known corporate organisations, GCC travel agencies, global suppliers and travel specialists coming together at the Palazzo Versace Dubai to conduct business.

The event began with an influential session on ‘Redefining MICE’ by managing director, MICE Knowledge, Rob Davidson, who is also an author, international motivational speaker and a key influencer of the UK’s MICE industry.

Davidson’s presentation shed light on the importance of MICE and how effective leaders build teams and maximise performance through MICE activities.

“All over the world, there has been a dramatic jump in the number of companies choosing non-cash rewards, such as incentive travel or incentivised meetings, to get the best performance and best results out of their employees,” he said.

“Companies that use MICE events effectively as part of their HR strategy are quickly finding that they have far more loyal and more productive people on their payroll. At the same time, there has never been a greater choice of exciting MICE destinations and venues available for meetings, incentive trips and team-building events. Improved air-links between the Middle East and the rest of the world are making these destinations and venues more and more accessible to companies in this region,” he added.

Following the introductory presentation was a panel session comprising well known corporate and government entities, including board member of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, HE Sara Al Madan; director – business services, Saudi Arabian Industrial Investment Company, Abdulghafoor Abdulhaleem; head of marketing and communications, DUCAB, UAE, Ashish Chaturvedy; associate director – Gulf area, Yemen and East Africa, Jamjoom Pharma, KSA, Mohammed Zaher; and executive director for marketing and external affairs, ACWA Power, KSA, Naif Abusaida. The panel session was moderated by procurement and category manager, OSN, UAE, Mohamed Samak.

The special guests spoke of the evolving buying preferences amid the challenges posed by the global economic climate, among other industry-related subjects.

The first day of the event additionally focused on technology in MICE, the changing role of travel agencies, models for successful event hosting and much more.
