Kempinski Hotel Suzhou welcomes its first guests. The hotel’s opening was marked with a grand celebration attended by over 250 guests, which included high ranking Suzhou government officials, Mr. Reto Wittwer, President and CEO of Kempinski, and Mr. René Schmitt, President China for Kempinski. The Opening Ceremony was followed by a splendid luncheon for all guests.

Kempinski Hotel Suzhou is set amidst a large estate which encompasses a 27-hole Jinji Lake International Golf Course and a state guesthouse of five villas. The hotel is surrounded by the stunning scenery of Dushu and Jinji Lake, and is located 150 km from Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport and 90 km from Hongqiao Airport. Hirsch Bedner Associates was commissioned for the interior design of the hotel.

The hotel features 381 luxurious rooms and 77 spacious suites on 21 storeys, most of them overlooking either the lakes or the golf course. All rooms offer modern amenities and necessities for business travellers; wireless LAN is available throughout the property. The meetings and banqueting facilities include the largest grand ballroom in Suzhou covering 1,850 m2 and catering for up to 1,600 guests, eight meeting rooms starting from 100 m2 in size, and a state-of-the-art business centre.

Extensive dining options include a large Chinese restaurant and an all-day dining restaurant with international cuisine. A Japanese specialty restaurant and a Paulaner Bräuhaus on two levels, serving traditional German meals and fine beers with live entertainment, will open in October. The stylish Panorama Cigar & Wine Bar invites one to unwind and enjoy the breath-taking views over Jinji Lake, and is also due to open in October.

The Health & Recreation Centre currently features a state-of-the-art gym, an exercise and aerobics room, a 50 m indoor swimming pool, and indoor tennis and squash courts. The extensive spa facilities set to open towards the end of 2008 will include Jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms, and a wide range of therapeutic spa treatments will be offered.

From 1 June to 31 August 2008, guests can enjoy a deluxe room for single or double occupancy, including breakfast, at a special opening rate of RMB 1288 + 15% per room, per night, subject to availability.
